Can Reiki Be Done Remotely?

People often ask me “can Reiki be done remotely”? The answer is definitely yes. Although you may have experienced an in-person Reiki session while lying on a massage table or sitting in a chair, this is not required to benefit from a treatment. In fact, there is a a Reiki symbol that allows the practitioner to send Reiki energy over any distance. So, it doesn’t matter if you are in Hong Kong and your Reiki master is in London, the Reiki master can use the symbol to send the Reiki over this long distance. It will be just as effective as if you had the session in person.

You should also note that Reiki cannot only be sent over space, it can also be sent over time. Whether the Reiki treatment you are receiving is remote or in person, it is possible to send Reiki to the past or the future. In this way, you can help resolve childhood trauma, for example. Or, you can send Reiki to a future situation, like surgery, or a job interview or an exam, to help improve the chances of success. With Reiki, the possibilities are limitless.

What Is Reiki?

The word Reiki literally means Universal Life Force energy. This energy is universal and is within all of us and in everything around us. It exists in endless abundance, so it will never “run out”. During a Reiki treatment, the Reiki practitioner or master sets their intention to channel the energy. This is all they need to do to set the energy flowing from their hands. The practitioner or master then lays their hands directly on the receiver, or places their hands directly above their body. The receiver remains fully clothed at all times and the Reiki will always go where it is needed. That is why, even though the Reiki master may have their hands over the receiver’s head, the receiver might feel hot, or cold or a tingling sensation somewhere else in their body. In this way, you can say that Reiki also contains an innate Universal Intelligence.

How Do You Conduct Remote Reiki Sessions?

Before the remote session, I normally ask the receiver to send me a photo of themselves. If this is not possible, I will use another surrogate to work on. A surrogate is something that I use to represent the client during the treatment. I normally use a pillow. Other practitioners sometimes use a stuffed animal, or their own thighs, for example.

When it is time to conduct the remote session, I typically call the receive a couple of minutes before the Reiki session is to start. I recommend that they be in a quiet, calm environment with no distractions. Using the Reiki symbol I described above, I connect to the energy of the client.

Like in-person Reiki sessions, a remote session usually lasts one hour. During that time, I remain connected to the client on the phone in case the client needs to tell me something. However, we generally remain on the phone in silence until the Reiki session concludes.

After the session concludes the client and I begin speaking on the phone again. If they feel comfortable doing so, they can share their experiences or ask questions. If I have received any psychic impressions during the treatment, and the client would like me to share them, I do so at that time.

What Are The Benefits Of Getting A Reiki Session Done Remotely?

One of the main benefits of a remote Reiki session is that you get to stay in the comfort of your own home. There is no need to travel to see the Reiki master physically. You also have the freedom of selecting the Reiki master you feel most comfortable with, no matter where in the world the Reiki master is.

Other benefits may include:

  • Better control of anxiety
  • Increase self-awareness
  • Less stress
  • Possible improvement of physical conditions
  • Help in resolving karma
  • Help resolving issues on the mental and emotional levels
  • Help managing the effects of depression
  • Helping the body strengthen its own powers of immunity

What Will I Feel During A Remote Reiki Session

Most people report feeling the same sensations as they feel during in-person sessions. You may experience heat or tingling in different parts of your body. You may also experience a sensation of cold. Some people report feeling the location of the practitioner’s hands. And just like during in-person sessions, you may have an emotional release, where you feel it necessary to cry. If this happens, it’s ok. It is simply the body releasing energy that it no longer needs.

If you experience these sensations, and you feel the need to talk about them as they are happening, be sure to let me know when we are on the phone. Or, we can also discuss after your Reiki session. I always remind clients that whatever happens during a Reiki session is what needs to happen. There is no right or wrong experience.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are many potential benefits to having a distance Reiki session. Take you time and find the Reiki master who you feel you resonate with. Be sure to ask them any questions you have to help you decide whether a remote Reiki session is right for you.
